Dental Assessment

A thorough dental examination will be completed at your first appointment. Your Hygienist will examine your medical and dental history, review any underlying risk factors, complete a periodontal assessment and discuss your oral self-care habits. Once all information is collected, Client specific goals will be set to achieve optimal oral health. 

Oral cancer can be detected on the lips, tongue, cheeks, gums, etc. We'll be looking for any signs or abnormalities in the mouth. When detected early, successful treatment is likely. Regular dental visits are an excellent defense!

 Prevention is best when it comes to oral health. Gum inflammation usually doesn't cause any significant problems at first but later spreads to other parts of the soft tissue and bone responsible for keeping our teeth firmly anchored and can cause irreversible damage. Many physical illnesses are also linked to oral health. Proper maintenance of our teeth will keep our bodies healthier for longer!

Polishing is completed to remove any extrinsic stains. Polish will leave the surface of teeth clean and smooth so that bacteria cannot stick to them, giving you a better chance of keeping your teeth clean during your regular oral self-care at home.

 Fluoride assists in the prevention of decay as well as sensitivity by strengthening the enamel of the teeth helping the re-mineralization process.

We use a small brush to apply the fluoride varnish on the surfaces of your teeth. 

A lot of the work is at home. We want to help you establish and stick to a good oral hygiene routine for a healthy, lasting smile! Discussing preventative hygiene strategies and techniques one on one will aid in the prevention of tooth decay, gum inflammation, and bad breath and help you keep things under control.
